Not much happened today – and it was good that way.
After a great night sleep, I joined the family for breakfast. Virginie and Eve were getting ready to leave the house for work and school while Jonathan was working from home.
We had some time to catch up on different things before his calls started.
I had started working on an article to process the experiences from my TransCanada. So I had plenty to do but enough time for a little nap.
Mathieu actually had wanted to meet up but had to decline last minute because his ATV had been stolen and he needed to take care of that.
That was very unfortunate since I was looking forward to meeting them again and hearing about there adventures cycling with their young daughter from Montreal to Halifax.
I knew one story already: when they finally reached Halifax they were unable to find an affordable hotel room. So they just rented car and slept in it before taking the first flight home. Again, pretty badass.
Around 5pm, I took an Uber and headed to the airport. It was way too early but with this I got again one step closer to home.
This time, my driver came from Senegal and had done an MBA in Finance in London before immigrating to Montreal. His mother was a dentist in Dhaka and a former minister of the government. He had achieved permanent residence in Canada, was working two jobs and was 9 months away from his citizenship. He loved traveling and seeing the world. And he had built a poultry (Hühnerfarm) back home in Senegal that would go live soon and would generate 20k$ per month as per his business plan.
He explained to me how Senegal was the strongest democracy in Africa and how the young generation was trying to improve the business environment in the country.
Even while he would become a Canadian citizen soon he was still very connected with his home Senegal.
I loved all these hopeful immigration stories.
Again, everything worked to perfection. I got Rosinante out of the storage room and was able to check her in without extra costs.
For the end of the week, a pilot strike was announced but that would not affect me.
My flight was delayed by 45 min so I had quite some time to kill.
