Day -1 – Workin’ and Chillin’ at Lake Garda

The drive here was long. It took us 12 hours, including 3 hours of traffic jams. We drove down the shore of Lake Garda through Malcesine, Garda and Bardolino before we reached Lazise. That added 1.5 hours easily. But we enjoyed a lot of beautiful sights. When we arrived at the campsite, it was already getting dark.

We found our spot on the perfectly organized campground and set up camp. Then we ventured off and managed to find something to eat in one of the restaurants. The campground was huge and packed with people. A little too many humans in one spot for my taste, and a lot of loud music everywhere. But our spot is at a very remote part of the campsite, which is a good thing.

The next day I spent working on my todo-list. I made some calls, crossed “ts” and dotted “is”. However, I felt a little exhausted from the weeks and months before. I realized that I needed a day longer with Carolin at the lake before I would get back into adventure-mode.

Once this decision was made, I felt relieved. I continued to work on my stuff and then took a nap. After coffee, I took our dog buddy for a long walk by the lake. Later, Carolin and I made dinner together. After that, we went down to the beach for a sundowner. Beautiful!

A serene sunset over Lake Garda, with gentle waves reflecting the orange and blue hues of the sky. The sandy shoreline is visible in the foreground, with distant mountains along the horizon.

The day went by so fast. I was happy with my decision to take it easy. I hoped though that I would not run out of time towards the end of the tour. Well, we shall see.
