After another 40km through rolling hills I reached the campground by 7pm. I felt exhausted and happy. It turned out that their fresh water was contaminated with bacteria. Maybe this explained the availability of camping spots.
Day 18: Wheatley to St. Thomas – feeling weak
I did not feel well all day and my mood was somewhat medium. Also, I had forgotten to switch on my Strava which was annoying. There was nothing specific I was just feeling a little tired.
Day 17: Windsor to Wheatley – a whole new world
Crossing the border to Canada had been like going through a secret door in a wardrobe in the movie „Narnia“. No more big city life but rather small town vibes. I felt relaxed to be in Canada again.
Day 16: Chicago to Detroit – on the road again
I got welcomed by my colleague Susanne, a German who lives in Detroit since 2010. Her husband Oli worked for Mercedes Benz and went over as an expat in 2008. Susanne had worked for Bosch for fifteen years before and followed him to start her successful coaching career in Michigan.
Day 14 & 15: Chilling in Evanston (North of Chicago)
It was a great way to decompress. When you are out in nature, there is a high intensity of impressions and no protective layer around you. I only notice that when I am inside a house.
